A man who has been dubbed as the Ninja Burglar has been taken into custody by Oakland Police, according to reports by KTVU.com.
The thief’s nickname is a result of video footage that shows him carrying a long, unidentified object in his hands.
According to the report, the man first popped up on police radar after a local resident saw him prowling around in her courtyard; video footage shows he was wearing a knit cap and dark clothes. He didn’t make a run for it after she turned the outside lights on, she said, but he “walked away slowly.”
Police said he later stole several bicycles before hopping into a getaway vehicle.
The unnamed man is being held at the Alameda County Jail on undisclosed bail bonds. Anyone who believes they have additional information that could be helpful in their investigation is asked to come forward.
