Members of the Union City Police Department have responded to many calls in the past several days. The below list highlights just few of the calls that officers have been dispatched to investigate.
The first call related to an armed robbery that took place at a local wireless phone store. Union City Police Department investigators said that two men were seen entering the business. They demanded electronics and cash from at least five victims. One of the suspects pulled a semiautomatic firearm. The victims took note of the gun and complied with their demands.
Police said the men in question were believed to be in their early 20s. Officers said they were later to identify both of the robbers. They were arrested a short time later. Rodney Bonds and Ronald Mitchell were taken into custody by the Union City Police Department and transported to the Santa Rita Jail to be booked into the system.
Bail information was not immediately available but it is believed to have been set in excess of $50,000 per suspect. If either man wishes to hire an expert Santa Rita Jail bondsman their cost would be 10%. They are due to appear in court later this week.
Department officials have also indicated they are on the lookout for a local flasher. These instances are ongoing. In most cases the suspect is targeting older female victims. The most recent took place near Mariner Park last weekend. The woman said she saw grown male exposing his genitals just after 9 a.m.
She quickly turned around and walked in the other direction. She called police as soon as she got home. A composite sketch has since been posted on the Union City Police Department website. Anyone who believes they have information regarding the identity of this man is asked to call the investigations division.
Lastly, officers said they are looking for tips regarding a pair of robbery suspects. This incident took place during the last week in June. It was at that time that two young males are said to have approached an elderly male in Arroyo Park. They reportedly threatened him with a knife and demanded he turn over his watch, walled and other gold jewelry.
The robbers then slashed the 88 year-old’s hand. They took his possessions and fled on foot. The men are described as being African American males in their early 20s. Both suspects remain at large. Anyone who believes they have information about the robbery is asked to contact the Union City Police.
