Santa Rita Jail

Most people arrested in Alameda County will taken to the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin because it is the largest jail in the county.

The Santa Rita jail facility can house up to 4,200 inmates at one time, making this the third-largest jail in California and the fifth-largest in the entire country. It is the standard holding facility for Alameda County.

When a person is brought to the Santa Rita Jail, they will be searched for weapons and contraband.

A medical and mental health evaluation will also generally be conducted. Santa Rita is one  of the only county jails that offers this level of assessment and care.

Personal property will be collected by the staff of the jail and held until the defendant is released from the jail.

The individual will then be taken to a holding cell to await a bond posting or a hearing.

Bail Bond Cost and Payment

When it comes to bail, to get someone release there is the option to put up the entire bail amount with the County in cash or cashier’s check.

Many people don’t have that kind of money. This is when a bail bondsman comes into the picture.

When a bondsman or bail agency is used, he bond fee is 10% of the defendant’s bail. For example, if bail is $15,000 then you will pay a bondsman $1,500. This fee cannot be negotiated because it is set by the California Department of Insurance in order to keep one bondsman from undercutting another. This fee is also not returned once the case is resolved because it is payment for the service a bail bondsman provides. The bondsman assumes the financial risk for the defendant by posting the bond on their behalf.

We know that paying for an Alameda bail bond is an unexpected expense that many people find difficult to afford. We gladly accept payments made with Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as well as cash.

For qualifying clients, we have financing plans available at no additional cost.
